Biography

I am Professor in Economics at the JE Cairnes School of Business and Economics at the University of Galway and Director of the Centre for Economic Research on Inclusivity and Sustainability. I hold a primary degree in Actuarial and Financial Studies and an MA in Economics from University College Dublin, an MSc in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics from the London School of Economics, and a PhD in Economics from the University of Galway. I was a Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley in 2008, a Visiting Researcher at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2015, and Honorary Visiting Professor at the University of Wollongong in 2023. My research focuses on the causes and consequences of socioeconomic and geographic inequalities in the areas of health, disability, and education. It generally involves the application of econometric and spatial modelling techniques.
